PMEDA AG in liquidation: Controversial IV evaluation agency ends

PMEDA AG of neurologist Henning Mast (71) is now history. According to the business registry office of the canton of Zurich, the controversial IV valuation company is “in liquidation”, SRF “Kassenrutsch” reported this week. A debt call was issued on 20 November.

This week, those responsible did not respond to a request from SonntagsBlick regarding the reasons for this.

The end of PMEDA is not unexpected: At the beginning of October, the Federal Social Insurance Administration announced that IV would not work with PMEDA in the future. The authority followed the recommendation of the Federal Commission on Quality Assurance in Medical Evaluations, which found “serious formal and substantive deficiencies” in the PMEDA reports.

But doctors responsible for “serious deficiencies” are still allowed to work on IVs. The current roster of two teams of specialists randomly assigned to IV reports includes several physicians who have worked for PMEDA for years.

From 2013 to 2022, PMEDA was allowed to issue approximately 2,500 medical reports for IV and received 26.7 million francs for them. Mast and his team announced that a striking number of people were healthy, thus saving insurance companies millions of dollars in payouts.
