Migros subsidiary increases the minimum wage and pays subsistence allowance.

Employees of Migros subsidiary Denner can look forward to a wage increase. The discounter is increasing the wage bill for the entire workforce by 2.4 percent in 2024, after 2.3 percent this year.

In the statement made on Friday, it was stated that this would prevent inflation. Workers in sales and logistics should benefit disproportionately from increases in wages compared to generally higher wages in management, for example. Wage increases will be both individual and structural.

It is also stated that all employees are given a living expense allowance of up to 100 francs per month, depending on their workload. In addition, all employees are given a Denner gift certificate worth 500 francs, regardless of their workload. The company wanted to express its gratitude to its employees for their dedication in a difficult economic environment.

Minimum wage will be increased

The minimum wage will also be increased by 100 francs. Unskilled workers with a 100 percent workload now receive 4,400 francs per month, graduates with a 2-year retail apprenticeship receive 4,500 francs, and graduates with a 3-year retail apprenticeship receive 4,600 francs.

A look at Lidl and Aldi shows Denner sneaking in from behind. This year you will earn 4,500 francs at Lidl without any training. Aldi Suisse is the minimum wage leader. In 2023, employees will receive at least 4,646 francs per month.

Wage increases across the sector

Migros announced wage increases across the group at the end of September. The wage bill will rise by 2.1 to 2.5 percent across the group. It was said that Migros companies that increased their employees’ salaries below 2.2 percent would also make one-time payments.

Advert

Coop employees will also receive higher wages next year. Overall, the retail giant will increase its wage bill by 2.2 percent in 2024. Aldi Suisse has not yet announced the results of the negotiations. Lidl holds its annual salary round every March. (SDA/wgr)
