With the golden beginning of autumn and the extremely hot weather, skiing was out of the question. However, even in the plains there has been snowfall in the last few days.

Several ski areas reacted immediately.

Parsenn cable cars went into operation in the Davos-Klosters GR area on Friday. A spokesman for Davos-Klosters Bergbahnen AG explained that the opening on this date was planned, or at least hoped. “Thanks to the good conditions, it worked and we became the first ski area to open in Graubeğen.” Trains are currently stopping again. However, plans for continued Parsenn operations as of next Friday are being adhered to.

Attention: The Jakobshorn/Gotschna ski area only opens on 25 November, the Rinerhorn and Pischa ski areas only open during the Christmas period.

Arosa GR also put its first ski lifts into operation only on Saturday. The first guests had the opportunity to lace up their skis in Hörnli. It takes a little longer for the season to open in the shared ski area Lenzerheide.

According to CEO Jan Steiner (45), Engadin Tourism opened at least its cross-country ski trails earlier than planned. Steiner says the Diavolezza glacier ski area has been offering “perfect conditions” since late October.

The Verbier mountain railways began operating on 10 November. “Normally, we would like to open the first weekend in November, but this year that was not possible,” an employee told Blick. However, despite the poor meteorological outlook this week with a very high snow limit, there is still snow. The employee guarantees that the slopes and lifts will be open next weekend and continuously from December 2.

Veysonnaz/Siviez ski area also took advantage of the start of winter and opened its slopes on November 11. Operations will be limited to weekends for now. “It’s probably too early to go down the valley, but you can get there,” says a spokesman for the local cable car company. Full and permanent opening will take place on December 16.

Strictly speaking, skiing has been possible in the Allalingletscher in Saas-Fee since 1 November. Matterhorn Glacier Paradise near Zermatt is also open.

The Glacier 3000 ski area in the catchment area of ​​Gstaad and Les Diablerets VD is already temporarily open.

Otherwise you need to be patient. The Kleine Scheidegg ski area (Jungra ski area) will open next weekend. Other ski areas start their season in December or want to announce it soon.

There were high hopes for an earlier start to the season at Andermatt UR, Engelberg OW, Flumserberge SG and Unterwasser SG. Although conditions were initially good, early opening did not occur. After all: Andermatt and Engelberg plan to open the season next weekend. Others want to provide information as soon as possible.
