Put your feet back on the beach in Mallorca in November. Why not, says Juan Antonio Amengual, mayor of the municipality of Calvià in Mallorca. He supports extending the holiday season.
Hotels will be allowed to keep their doors open after mid-November if the season is adjusted. As “Mallorca Magazine” writes, Mallorca residents are ambitious and want to stay in business longer.
Amengual wants to extend the swimming season as well as the opening hours of hotels. Thus, the beaches would remain open almost all year round. This requires showers to run longer and lifeguards to remain on-site.
The municipality of Calvià should therefore hope to attract more international guests in the off-season.
At the same time, rules for tourists on the island are becoming stricter. There are now areas where alcohol is prohibited, and violation of the “liquor and conduct code” results in a fine. (lui)
