Ticket prices do not all increase at the same rate. Single ticket prices will be set slightly above average, while monthly subscription prices will be set below average, the government council announced on Thursday. The increase in annual subscriptions is exactly average.

“Daily Ticket Calendar Day” will now be definitively included in the ZVV tariff and will be valid until 05:00 the next day. Initially, this offer was only available temporarily as part of market testing. However, the statement states that this has now been finalized.

There is also an arrangement for short routes in Winterthur. The maximum eight-stop limit will no longer apply and at the same time the maximum short-haul distance will be adjusted from 3,200 meters to 3,000 metres.

Since the last timetable adjustment in 2016, public transport services have been greatly expanded, in particular as part of the fourth partial addition to the Zurich S-Bahn. The government writes that there was serious inflation, especially last year and this year. The effects of the corona epidemic and the VAT increase were also added to this.

Experts also expect ZVV costs to rise over the next few years due, among other things, to higher energy costs. In addition to the 3.4 percent increase in passenger prices, the public sector’s higher contribution through tax revenues and the efficiency increases in ZVV and transportation companies are also intended to slow down development.
