Summer continues: Find the best holiday deals here

On paper, autumn has begun, the days are already starting to get noticeably cooler. If you can, take a short “end of summer vacation” to a beautiful travel destination in the next few weeks.

A Blick survey of Switzerland’s three largest tour operators shows that many discounts can still be booked at short notice and at last-minute prices, just before the start of the autumn holidays. And not only in unknown places, but also on tourist “race tracks”. Because there are plenty of hotel beds to fill out there.

Majorca again and again

There are bargains now, especially in Mallorca. A week at the four-star hotel Blau Punta Reina Resort with hotel plan brand Migros Holidays, including flight from Zurich (3 October) and half board, starts from just 819 francs based on double occupancy. Kuoni’s sister company, Helvetic Tours, offers a week with breakfast in a sea-view suite at the four-star Cooee Cap de Mar hotel from just 633 francs, including flights from Zurich. TUI Suisse recommends the four-star Suneo Green Garden hotel: a week in the studio with half board and a flight from Zurich costs from 914 francs. Lower hotel categories are of course cheaper.

As always, Türkiye is at the top of the bargaining list. With Helvetic Tours, you can get the all-inclusive five-star Terrace Elite Resort hotel in Antalya and a flight from Basel for a week for only 728 francs. Migros Holidays offers Pine Bay Holiday Resort (4.5 stars) in Kuşadası with flights departing from Zurich and all-inclusive Plus with prices starting from 759 francs. Tui Suisse recommends the four-star AQI Pegasos Club hotel near Alanya, with all-inclusive flights from Zurich starting from 1,398 francs.

Attention: Some of the price examples are places that remain at current prices, so prices can change quickly.

The recommendation is worth it

There are cheap offers for last minute travelers in the Mediterranean. Tunisia’s Djerba island, Egypt’s seaside resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, Greece’s Rhodes and Crete islands, the Canary Islands Tenerife, southern Italy’s Calabria region and the island state of Malta complete the top 10. Sunny and nearby destinations for last-minute travelers.

Even though last-minute deals can easily be booked online, it’s still worth getting advice from a travel agent. This saves time when searching for bargains and offers financial security through the protection of the customer’s money. There’s bound to be an inside tip or two in there too.
