The French-speaking Swiss consumer protection organization Fédération romande des consommateurs (FRC) issued a statement on Saturday evening responding to a report by French-language radio and television station RTS. According to the FRC, the plaintiffs were hoping to receive compensation of between 1,600 and 5,000 euros.
In the French-speaking program on Saturday evening, FRC Secretary General Sophie Michaud Gigon said it was a scandal that the Swiss were almost the only party not paid compensation in the VW incident, given that those responsible had been criminally convicted. Swiss broadcaster RTS.
By the end of 2017, more than 2,000 people had assigned their rights to Myright in a class-action lawsuit filed by a Berlin law firm against the German automaker. VW Group has already spent almost 30 billion francs on compensation and legal costs, according to the FRC. In the case filed by the German Federal Association of Consumer Associations in 2018, a settlement was reached in favor of 260,000 customers. Compensation ranged from 1,350 to 6,257 euros per person.
