There won’t be Starbucks To Go for the Autobahn anytime soon. Migrolino has decided to eliminate Starbucks coffee machines.
According to “CH Media”, the Migros subsidiary is ending its cooperation with Selecta, the snack machine company that previously operated coffee machines. Nearly a hundred coffee machines will be dismantled.
But Migrolino does not completely destroy coffee at its more than 360 branches at train stations and gas stations. Starbucks machines were replaced by new machines from Migros’ own brand, Café Royal.
The reason for the change is the vegan alternative that Café Royal can offer. Coffee dispensers can choose between traditional milk and oat milk. Café Royal may also offer chilled coffee at select locations.
It is not yet clear when Starbucks machines will disappear. Migrolino no longer discloses whether the price of coffee to go has decreased.
This is not the only setback for Selecta. At the end of July, SBB decided to discontinue existing Lavazza coffee machines on the platforms. These machines are also operated by Selecta. (lui)
