5.9 million new customers: Netflix stops password sharing and sells more subscriptions

class=”sc-29f61514-0 fQbOYE”>

First of all, sharing passwords is a thorn for Netflix leaders.

Netflix has been taking action in several countries against users who have shared accounts at home for several weeks. Additional money has to be paid for this now. Netflix is betting that affected users will choose to pay rather than cancel the service. Netflix currently has a total of 238.4 million paying customers.

This calculation seems to have worked so far. After the US stock market closed on Wednesday, Netflix said sales are now higher than before when the crackdown on passwordless users in every region began.

Overall, sales rose 2.7 percent year-on-year to approximately $8.2 billion (about €7.3 billion). As a result, there was a profit of $1.49 billion after profiting from $1.44 billion a year ago.
