A ranking that Switzerland failed to win. When it comes to the world’s strongest passes, our little red book is not at the top of the podium. In the assessment by Henley and Partners, Switzerland ranks only fifth, along with countries such as Portugal and the Czech Republic. This means Switzerland is up two places from the previous year.
Placement depends on how many countries you can enter visa-free with the corresponding passport. The less a visa is needed, the easier it is to travel abroad. Because then there is no extra expense and there is no need to go to the consulate to fly on vacation.
Singapore is number one. 192 of 226 destinations do not require a visa. Our neighboring countries Italy and Germany share the second place with Spain. Bronze goes to Austria, France and Sweden, among others. The Principality of Liechtenstein is also ranked 11th, Croatia 14th, Serbia 34th, Colombia 37th and Albania 48th.
At the bottom of the list are Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. With an Afghanistan passport, only 27 travel destinations can be visited without a visa.
