Markus Blocher (52) is one of four children of Senior Vice President politician Christoph Blocher (82). His fortune is estimated at $3.4 billion. He inherited the shares in Ems-Chemie from his father and later sold it. He currently runs the company Dottikon, a spin-off of Ems.

Margarita Louis-Dreyfus (60) owns 69.6 percent of agricultural commodity giant Louis-Dreyfus. His fortune is said to be $3.5 billion. She left her shares in the company to her when her husband died of leukemia in 2009. Born in Russia, she managed to increase her legacy and establish herself as a well-known entrepreneur.

Peter Spuhler (63) should not be missing from the list of Switzerland’s richest people. He is Chairman of Stadler Rail and as of this week owns more than 20% of Lucerne industrial giant Swiss Steel. Spuhler is said to be worth $4.1 billion.

Rudolf Maag (77) is said to belong to 4.9 billion – hardly anyone knows about Switzerland. He started his career at Sandoz and also worked for dental giant Straumann. In 1999, it merged Stratec with medical device manufacturer Synthes – later selling 15 percent of it to Johnson & Johnson.

Speaking of Straumann: Former CEO and Chairman of the Board, Thomas Straumann (59) is also one of the wealthiest in Switzerland. His fortune is estimated at 5 billion. He also founded Medartis in 1997, of which he is still Vice President today.
