Budget airline Ryanair has a sexism problem. And with the chief pilot. He has been said to have repeatedly approached young female pilots inappropriately, as the aviation portal aerotelegraph.com wrote. The 58-year-old man has now lost his job. At the end of May, the first anonymous complaint was received at Ryanair’s Dublin headquarters. Seven more followed.
Chief pilot’s deception: Young woman offered to help pilots get their careers off the ground. “You have a great body!” He harassed her with text messages like or “You have a great ass!”. But that’s not all: he requested full-body photos from young pilots – the youngest was 21 years old. And she asked if he had a girlfriend.
Perfidious: Having worked for Ryanair for 28 years, the chief pilot is said to have arranged the squads so that he can sit in the cockpit with young female pilots he finds particularly attractive. An internal investigation concludes: “A repeated pattern of inappropriate and unacceptable behavior towards a number of young female pilots has been discovered”. (be)
