We continue our “fashion mistakes and age” column – and once again we insist that the thing (here’s the paradox) isn’t really age. You will change, your taste, social status, place of residence will change, just understanding what is beautiful for you is more than normal. But at the same time, it is important not to forget to declutter your wardrobe, otherwise it will “hang” in the past and not suit you. And then ask yourself: “Why do your favorite things fit well, but you don’t look at all?”.
Donn says that most often girls in their forties are confused with the choice of palette. You can still get your bearings when it comes to styling (after all, the internet is full of examples of fashion bloggers of different ages), and you can also choose the right styles by trial and error. But the colors of your wardrobe are not as obvious as appropriate. And most of the time, Karen’s clients make the same “color” mistake – they choose too saturated shades, thinking that they will help rejuvenate the look.
This does not mean at all that you have to give up bright coats, shoes and sweaters – by no means! It is only important to adjust the brightness of the palette: instead of chicken yellow, choose, say, light lemon, instead of honest scarlet – noble wine or interspersed coral, instead of “nuclear” blue – for example, azure. Your wardrobe will thus remain fresh, relatively diverse, but not flashy.
“Colour is a great way to brighten up and look younger, but it’s easy to overdo it,” warns stylist Jacqui Stafford. Why is it important to think about it after forty years? As a rule, at this age you already choose more natural shades of hair, you do not engage in self-tanning, you gravitate towards natural materials. And so the wardrobe requires the same natural approach – that’s the whole secret!
