The New York Times published an article called “How to Recycle Your Wedding Dress” — and Sarah Jessica Parker made the announcement. An irony we didn’t expect! And no, it wasn’t a 15-year-old photo from the first Sex and the City movie circulating in the media, but recent photos of Sarah Jessica as Carrie Bradshaw, all wearing the same legendary Vivienne Westwood dress in which the Manhattan journalist married Mr. Big. And who thought it would be cool to wear this outfit after 10+ years?
Costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago are apparently responsible for styling Just Like It Is, the sequel to Sex and the City. They have confirmed in the past that they are going to bring old pieces from the character archives back into the sets to emphasize the sustainability of the fashion and add beautiful references to the original story.
The stylists kept the entire original ensemble with the bird on the head (remember how Miranda tried to distract Carrie with talk of those feathers? Ah, the nostalgia!). But instead of the metallic-effect sandals from the 2008 film, the actress is wearing classic turquoise pumps this time, paired with a stunning cape. A real queen in a gown! What can I say, Carrie (and Sarah Jessica) haven’t changed at all…
The question is why the dress from the failed wedding (as we all mourned with Bradshaw when the party fell through!) was suddenly brought back into the series. Is the protagonist walking down the aisle again? Let’s be honest, this version is not the most fantastic, considering that John Corbett (the actor who played the role of Aiden) has officially returned to the project. If this is true, then it seems that the list of great movie quotes will have to be edited.
Do you remember what the paper said about Carrie’s wedding? Like, happiness can come after forty. Correction: of course, after 55 – and always!
