If you like to stream movies and series on Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+ & Co., the Samsung S95B is more interesting than the competition from Sony and LG thanks to HDR10+.
The variant with a 55 inch (140 centimeter) screen diagonal now costs 1257.15 euros at Amazon. There is currently no provider cheaper. MediaMarkt and Saturn, for example, charge 1369 euros. If you register your new OLED TV with Samsung before March 12, you will receive 150 euros in cashback. That pushes the price to a solid EUR 1107.15.
If you want it a size bigger, Amazon has an interesting deal for you here too. Because the version of the S95B with 65 inches (165 centimeters) costs only 1699.15 euros instead of 1899 euros thanks to a voucher of 199.85 euros. But that’s not all, because Samsung gives you another 200 euros cashback. In the end, you only pay 1499.15 euros for the S95B with 65 inches.
Samsung S95B at a low price: the QD OLED panel is that good
Whichever format you choose, with the Samsung S95B you get an OLED TV with an excellent display. More specifically, this is a QD OLED panel equipped with Quantum Dot technology. This ensures even better contrasts and stronger colors than with conventional OLED screens.
The result is an excellent picture with deep blacks, bright colors and a peak brightness of up to 1000 candelas per square meter. There aren’t many brighter 4K TVs out there right now. In the tests, the S95B also caused a stir with its strong anti-reflective coating. Only about 0.7 percent of the incident light is reflected. This way, you can also enjoy movies and series in normal daylight without annoying reflections.
120 Hertz, four (!) HDMI 2.1 ports and a variable frame rate (VRR) also make gamers’ hearts beat faster, as the input lag is reduced to ten milliseconds. Liquid gaming is therefore guaranteed.
A nice feature of the S95B is the ambient mode, which turns your OLED TV into a mural at the touch of a button. The quality of the images doesn’t come close to that of Samsung’s The Frame, but it’s still impressive and always nicer than the black TV screen.
Let’s come to the main shortcoming of the Samsung S95B: the lack of Dolby Vision support. As a result, you have to make compromises in terms of brightness and color range when you watch movies and series in Dolby Vision format. With HDR10 +, Samsung relies on its own technology, which is only used by a few streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video and Paramount +. Netflix, on the other hand, relies on Dolby Vision.
It must be said that you can of course still stream Netflix content in HDR10 format with the Samsung S95B. The picture is still impressive, but not as brilliant as on a TV with Dolby Vision support.
