The burning body of a Cadillac, the leather seats of a pink and cream Thunderbird convertible – this is how photographer Giampaolo Sgura sees the aesthetics of the 1950s, who shot the atmospheric campaign for the new Coccinelle accessories collection. In a car flying along an empty and endless highway, cutting through the sweet night air of summer, the company of young people is carefree and happy. Bus stop, street cinema, popcorn stored in a bag, laughter, kisses for kisses – this is the era of funny and daring rockabilly fans, for whom the wind in their hair and grease is enough for complete freedom.
It is not surprising that the style of this particular period returns to trends. After a long pandemic and crises, we all missed youthful indulgence and infantile polka dot dresses. Of course, dressing up in a Bettie Page plunging neckline top and ultra-short high shorts isn’t the best idea, but the soul calls for a little rock and roll. And we know where to get it. Hidden in a series of images by Giampaolo Sgura for Coccinelle is a fashion guide to a nostalgic trend: dark jeans, aviator glasses with polygonal frames, crop tops, shorts and stylish leather or suede bags. Spacious, yet miniature in appearance “baguettes” with a round lapel and a comfortable handle, the crossbody on a wide strap is the key to a stylish look in the spirit of the fifties, which will add a charming retro touch, but will allow you not to go out with pea skirts and bright red lipstick.
Otherwise, keep to a minimum: let a thoughtful accessory stand out against the background of a basic white T-shirt, roomy leather jacket and denim. Enough of such a “talking” accent and fire in the eyes – it was this simple set that once was enough to live the most memorable nights on the endless road and feel absolutely, absolutely happy.
