The first (and main) reason your capsule isn’t working is because it doesn’t meet your expectations of style and comfort. Appalling, but in a “smart” wardrobe, things should be compatible not only with each other, but also with you – your lifestyle, work and hobbies, rhythm, mood, not to mention the figure and type of appearance.
It is possible and necessary to be inspired by influencer outfits, but it is important to project everything on yourself. You must have saved photos of Paris street style in which the fashionista is dirty in “shoulder” coats and stiletto sandals, but is such a trick suitable for the realities of the Russian winter? No.
A capsule wardrobe today is not just a set of clothes in neutral colors. High adaptability is a key criterion. Of course, there are “basic” things that you shouldn’t skimp on. This is a status coat, white and black t-shirts, a tight blank shirt, perfectly fitting jeans, a perfectly tailored pair of jackets or trousers.
These details can be mixed in different proportions and “complete” the look with accent elements: high jeans and a t-shirt can be complemented with a candy-colored tweed jacket, a shirt rhymes with a light sweater and classic straight trousers, deliberately casually lowered to the hips, can be added.
It is important to listen to your feelings more than the advice of stylists. A truly successful purchase is one in which you feel the best, but at the same time objectively weigh all the pros and cons. When you’re trying on a new pair of jeans, you know that they’ll help you accentuate what you need and disguise what you’d like to hide. And most importantly – you feel extremely comfortable and self-confident in them, and you definitely won’t hide them in the back drawer of the wardrobe. Only in this case will the capsule work – and yes, only then will you see for yourself how great it works!
