We get it, we get it: The frenzy of New Year’s Eve seems to trigger unbridled shopping. I would like to buy a sequined dress, a glass beaded top and a satin blouse – and then the sales start! All this is, of course, fun, but it is unreasonable: the fashion industry is increasingly vocal that things-investments are a much more reasonable waste. And we will prove to you that holiday outfits can be repeated and will not lose their relevance.
For this, we turn to the young Russian brand Pokrovskaya. It was founded in 2019 by Anna Pokrovskaya, a former interior designer and now a fashion designer. Her journey into the world of fashion turned out to be slow but intense: her mother instilled an atypical taste in Anna from childhood, and her grandmother brought from abroad clothes that were not in the Soviet Union. Over time, Pokrovskaya, who became an interior designer, learned the rules of working with colors, shapes, ergonomics – and then applied her skills to modeling her first collection.
So let’s move from words to actions: using the example of Pokrovská’s fresh collections, we’ll show what finds are worth getting into your holiday capsule and why they won’t go out of style.
When we say that classic models are a great idea for an evening outfit, we don’t mean straight black trousers and a white office shirt. Classics can be different, more or less everyday – guess what we’re talking about? That’s right: if you choose styles that are considered traditional but not seen very often, you will get the perfect balance between recognizable style and unique shape.
For example, you can focus on noble flounces, which in Anna Pokrovská’s collections are combined with strict lines equipped with zipper jackets. Or pay attention to the spectacular frill, which takes on the role of an accessory. A blouse alone can be the focal point of your holiday look, but when paired with other eye-catching textures like sleek metallic pants, you’ve got an incredible combination.
We always sincerely advise you to look for unusual things that are most likely just you. It can be vintage or handmade – the main thing is that clothes and accessories convey a unique character. We don’t want to object to, for example, mass New Year’s collections, but imagine how offensive it would be to meet a colleague at a company party wearing exactly the same clothes as you. And all because you chose one typical style and palette.
Even pants or a jacket with sequins can look different. A scale dress with contrasting iridescence looks much more extravagant (in a good way) than a monotonous dress with thin sequins. Shiny trousers, a vest and a jacket with interesting curly lapels from the latest Pokrovskaya collection “work” in the same way — you won’t find similar models elsewhere and you’ll get a real exclusivity that will collect compliments not only from one or two sides but years. And what is it if not a good investment?
