On these 5 roads you spent the longest time in traffic jams in 2022

Flitsmeister kept an eye on traffic on Dutch roads this year. Using these numbers, we can show you which five streets had the longest traffic jams in 2022.

We knew early in the year that the past year was once again very busy on the Dutch roads. There are multiple causes for all these files and there is no solution yet.

files a big problem

The ANWB, for example, previously stated that we are dealing with a permanent traffic jam. This overcrowding is partly due to the unreliability of public transport in the Netherlands. “As a result, timetables are being further reduced, making the car almost the only alternative for the slightly longer routes,” said Arnoud Broekhuis of the ANWB. But that’s not the only reason you’re stuck in traffic more often.

Broekhuis said: “The total of nine million vehicles are increasingly being used simultaneously, which means that we drive bumper to bumper more often.”

These five roads are where you spent the longest time stuck in traffic

For the longest traffic jams of 2022, you have to be mainly in the middle and west of the Netherlands. Traffic jams often occur during the morning rush hour.

1. A12 Veenendaal – Maarn

The longest traffic jam of the year was on the A12 between Veenendaal and Maarn. The delay was 174 minutes and the traffic jam was 16.5 kilometers long. This was on Tuesday September 27 at 7:33 am.

2. A12 Monthly Pant – Waterberg

The second longest traffic jam of the year was on the A12 between Maanderbroek and Waterberg. The delay was 157 minutes and the traffic jam was 18.8 kilometers long. That was Thursday, December 8th at 8:18 am.

3. A12 Bodegraven – Harmelen

In third place is the A12 again, but now between Bodegraven and Harmelen. With a 157-minute delay and 17 kilometers of traffic jams, it wasn’t fun to be here. The traffic jam was there on Tuesday 8 November at 08:18.

4. A12 Arnhem – Utrecht

And again the A12! This time with a delay of 154 minutes and 17.9 kilometers. This was Thursday December 15 at 7:45 am.

5. A7 Hoorn-Nord – Purmerend

The A7 between Hoorn-Noord and Purmerend is in fifth place. The delay was 127 minutes and the traffic jams were 17.9 kilometers long. This took place on Tuesday October 18 at 6:33 am.
