Yesterday, Wednesday May 31, Netflix released its weekly charts again. In the series rankings in Germany, “The Rookie – Season 1” is ranked 5th, “The Rookie – Season 2″ is ranked 6th”, and then “The Rookie – Season 3” is ranked 8th. alone is a special feature as there is currently no other series with more than one season in the charts, which of course is led by the new release “FUBAR”.
But what makes it really special: it’s not a new photo. “the rookie‘ has been a fixture on the Netflix charts for over two months now. The first season is arranged for nine weeks, the second for eight, and the third for seven. This clearly shows that people are slowly making their way through the series – but at the same time, more and more people are probably getting into the series, because the first season is still the most streamed.
That series remain in the Netflix charts for so long is anything but the norm. That a series manages to do that with multiple seasons over such a long period of time at the same time is the absolute exception. So The Rookie’s Netflix success is pretty extraordinary.
Netflix hit “The Rookie” – a 2018 series, of which there have been more for a long time
“The Rookie” even topped the charts for a while. The series starring Nathan Fillion, who is also currently in theaters in “Guardians Of The Galaxy 3”, as a man in his mid-forties who decides to become a police officer and thus becomes the oldest rookie, i.e. newcomer to the unit, is anything but brand new. The American broadcaster ABC started broadcasting in 2018 and in Germany the series can be seen for free on ZDFneo.
Only three seasons of “The Rookie” are currently available on Netflix – and there are already more. For example, you can already watch four seasons at streaming competitor Disney +. So if you are already through on Netflix, you can continue streaming there. Or if you have a Disney+ subscription and are interested in the series, you can start right there.
Even that is not all. The fourth season is currently also running in the afternoon program on ZDFneo. The fifth season has recently ended in the US, which will soon also be coming to Germany. Sky will show them from the beginning of Julyand then it should end up on Disney+.
A sixth season has also been decided and will be broadcast in the US from autumn 2023. There is also the spin-off “The Rookie: Feds”, which will have its German premiere in July 2023 – also on Sky.
