While “Terrifier” only managed to grab attention in genre circles in 2016, the sequel, released six years later, looked very different. “Terrifier 2” became a mega hit. Yes, mega hit, because with a manageable budget of only $ 250,000, Damien Leone’s ultra-brutal horror shocker managed to collect a whopping $ 15 million at the worldwide box office.
So it is no wonder that no obstacles were put in place for a further sequel. On the contrary: Damien Leone, who also wrote the screenplays for the “Terrifier” series, now gets the chance to get the most out of it in part 3. Its budget is said to be in the low to mid seven-figure range, meaning “Terrifier 3” will definitely cost at least (!) four times as much as “Terrifier 2”.
Whether the “Terrifier 3” budget increase will help remains to be seen. Damien Leone previously proved how to make a virtue of limitations with “Terrifier” and “Terrifier 2”, as both movies looked much better than the budget would suggest. The practical effects in particular were simply phenomenal. So it will be interesting to see what Damien Leone will do with a budget of millions.
Details about the plot of “Terrifier 3” are still kept secret. After part 2, however, the lines between delusion and reality will probably become even more blurred. David Howard Thorton will come back as Art The Clown and Lauren LaVera be part of the party as Sienna. Filming is expected to begin in November or December 2023 and the film will hit theaters in late 2024.
