The challenge of cardiovascular disease

It is estimated that there are 1.280 million adults in the world, from 30 to 79 years, with high blood pressure and it is estimated that only one in five has control over their disease, according to this health organization.

In addition, there are modifiable risk factors feed, such as lack of physical activity, tobacco and alcohol consumption, stress, overweight or obesity, which, if properly prevented and controlled, could prevent or contribute to the control of hypertension.

It will also help prevent type 2 diabetes, disease with which 62 million people live in the region, according to data from the Pan American Health Organization.

Poorly treated hypertension can cause renal failure, cerebrovascular incidents and heart diseases, adds the specialist.

For this reason, it is recommended to periodically visit a doctor to check the blood sugar level, at least once every 12 months, especially after the age of 35, which will enable a timely diagnosis and start of treatment. , If necessary.

Aware of the growing influence cardiovascular diseases in Latin Americaand therefore the need to strengthen access to patient care, in order to positively contribute to their health condition and quality of life, About 120 doctors and specialists from the region, including endocrinologists and cardiologists, met in Panama with the aim of generating an exchange of knowledge and experiences that positively contribute to the comprehensive control of people, in terms of blood pressure, glucose and lipids. as a cardiometabolic triple goal.

Namely, the event in which professionals from health, was called Control 3 Evolution and was organized by Sanofi. During the meeting, two rooms were available, one for patient access from endocrinology and the other from cardiology, in order to treat glycemic control, blood pressure and lipids in a specialized way in each panel.

Some of the interventions, for example, referred to the future of diabetes care through artificial intelligence, telemedicine and new insulin administration systems, the evolution of insulinization; vascular biomechanics and its relationship with arterial hypertension, recommendations for the treatment of dyslipidemia, among others.
