A few days ago, an announcement caught the eye: “Indiana Jones” aka “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” will come to Disney+ on May 31, 2023, just in time for the preparation of the fifth part “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny”. Disney and the official Indy Twitter account have announced this. But it was unclear whether this would also apply to Germany.
After all, “Indiana Jones 1-4” only started on the Paramount+ streaming service in early May 2023. And the fact that two streaming services offer the same films at the same time is still the exception rather than the rule in times of the fiercely contested streaming market. But now Disney has confirmed us when we asked:
“Indiana Jones – Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” can actually also be found in Germany from May 31, 2023 Streaming Disney+.
That gives you almost a month to get in the mood for “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” (German cinema release: June 29, 2023)., if you want to see the first four movies again. Alternatively, as previously mentioned, the four films are also available as a subscription to Paramount+, thanks to Paramount bringing the four Indy adventures to theaters at the time:
And an Indy retrospective is well worth it before the fifth and really final archeology adventure, because “The Wheel of Destiny” is actually the worthy farewell, because the series has honestly earned it, as FILMSTARTS editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen can attestwho saw “Indy 5” at the Cannes Film Festival.
“While ‘Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny’ doesn’t quite measure up to the first three films in the series, it’s good enough that Indy can now hang and hold his hat in good conscience,” he concludes his review. in which he awards no less than 3.5 out of 5 stars.
The unloved fourth part in particular scared some fans of the brand. But while this time it’s not Steven Spielberg directing, but “Le Mans 66” director James Mangold, Harrison Ford’s farewell performance should win back some lost fans…
