Circular hiking trails offer the ability to start in one place and return there without having to return later. Not only is this practical for going home and back, it also makes the route more interesting – after all, you only pass each place once and get new impressions of the area throughout the walk.
Switzerland has circular hiking trails suitable for both beginners and advanced hikers. Families also love to use these routes for nature excursions as they are versatile. Such routes work not only in the mountains, but also in valleys, forests, gorges or, for example, water bodies. Depending on how you feel, you can choose the right gait. The magnificent circular hiking trail in Pazolastock, which runs through the cantons of Graubünden and Uri, is not easily forgotten once you hike. Blick reader Geni Kälin gave us this tip. It goes from the Oberalp Pass, via Pazolastock, to Lake Toma, which is 2345 meters above sea level and is considered the source of the Rhine. The route requires a good level of conditioning but is well worth the effort as you are rewarded with many great views along the way. You can return via Maighels-Hüttenweg.
