Even after Terminator 6: Dark Fate flopped, the stars weren’t quite aligned for Arnold Schwarzenegger to once again reprise his iconic role as the deadly machine. No one seemed really interested in the sci-fi franchise yet, neither the stars (“Terminator 6” actress Mackenzie Davis explained at the time that it was crazy to think there was a demand for a sequel), nor the public. But now a few years have passed and as we know franchises can be revived quickly – However, Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally out, as he has now confirmed more clearly than ever.
In an extensive interview with the star explained that that era is over for him. The good news for many action fans: Schwarzenegger thinks it doesn’t have to be over with “Terminator”!
“The franchise is not finished yet. I am done. I got the message loud and clear that the world now wants to see something different when it comes to ‘Terminator’. So someone has to come up with a great idea.” .
Schwarzenegger criticizes “Terminator 5 + 6”
“Terminator” was mainly responsible for the success, so he keeps the franchise in mind. The first three movies are great too, but he didn’t star in the fourth (“Terminator Salvation”) because he was the governor of California at the time. However, the actor has little nice to say about parts 5 and 6 of the series – they were not good, and that with a statement.
“Part 5 (‘Terminator: Genisys‘) and part 6 (‘Terminator: Dark Fate’) didn’t make it in my eyes. And we knew that in advance, because they just weren’t written well.”
