Florence – discover the new pasta

The capital of Tuscany is not only a city of arts, but also a city of pleasure (like all villages and towns in the region). So if you’ve seen Michelangelo’s statue of David or the Uffizi Gallery, then you can regain your strength in a typical trattoria. A special feature in Florence is the Pici pasta type, which looks like XXL spaghetti and therefore tastes a bit doughy. If you like meat, you should try «Bistecca alla fiorentina», a steak from the local Chianina breed.

Ulignano – Enjoy Chianti wine

One of the districts of San Gimignano is the small town of Ulignano. While there are so many fine wineries to choose from here in the famous Chianti wine region, it’s hard to pick just one. Luckily, there are several places in Ulignano that offer tastings and other activities for visitors. If you want to have fun at the winery afterwards, you have the opportunity to go horseback riding in the Tuscan hills. Some vineyards even offer a helicopter flight that lets you really appreciate the scenery and the size of the vines.

Fly: A good place to go is the Tenuta Torciano winery. In addition to wine tasting, those who wish can enjoy the local menu in a special pavilion.

Val d’Orcia – overnight in wineries

The Orcia Valley (Val d’Orcia) is a typical Tuscan picture book landscape: green hills, winding roads and cypresses. The towns of Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino are a few minutes’ drive from each other. There are a number of beautiful accommodations here, most of them agriturismo style. For example, many wineries in this area offer bed and breakfast rooms in addition to wine tasting. Guests stay in these accommodation located in a real country estate and experience the tranquility of country life up close.

Fly: If you want to buy souvenirs from the kitchen, you should eat the delicious cheeses of the region.

Bagno Vignoni – in the land of truffles

The small town of Bagno Vignoni takes its name from a hot spring that rises in the middle of the city and is located in a basin. The region is known not only for its wine, but also for the truffles that grow here in the forests, rather than the thermal water used since ancient times. The best restaurant in the square is Enoteca La Terrazza (nice atmosphere especially at sunset), right next to the thermal pools. Guests are pampered with homemade pasta and all kinds of Tuscan delicacies. And of course there are also many dishes with truffles.

Manvi Winery – organic wines

Manvi winery is located near the picturesque town of Montepulciano. The drive here is through beautiful scenery until there are no more houses to see. The mansion at the end of the street suddenly appears. It is run by four women who came together to grow organic wines with passion. If you want to stay overnight, you can use the bed and breakfast. A delicious breakfast with a view of the winery is included in the price.

Fly: If you don’t want to live directly in Montepulciano, Manvi is for you. However, time spent in the medieval city is also valuable, for example, from the tower you have a wonderful view of the surrounding area.

Montalcino – home of Brunello wine

The town of Montalcino is typically a Tuscan town built on a hill and surrounded by a fortress wall. Besides its beauty, it is also famous for Brunello wine, one of the most expensive wines in Italy. Therefore, the taste of the fine drop from the Sangiovese grape must be obtained directly from the producers (and take one or the other bottle with you). But it’s worth a visit for the trip: The town’s imposing fortress (Rocca) was built in 1361 and has stood up to local enemies, wind and weather conditions to this day.

The towers offer panoramic views of the green hills of the region. The castle also hosts the Jazz and Wine Festival in July each year. Music pleasure combined with culinary delights, namely pure Dolce Vita!

Fly: Not far from Montalcino is the Convent of Sant’ Antimo. The beautiful white church stands out against the surrounding landscape. While coming here, the view is also pleasing to the eye.
