The Queen’s confidant is forced to leave Windsor Castle

Former stylist Angela Kelly worked closely with Queen Elizabeth II for over 25 years. After the monarch’s death, she even described her as her “best friend” on her Instagram channel. Officially she was “Personal Assistant, Counselor and Administrator to Her Majesty”. Now the new head of the British royal family, King Charles III, apparently has no place for the servants. The 65-year-old has since evacuated her home in Windsor Castle.

Britain’s Daily Mail reports that Angela Kelly was seen loading some of her belongings into a van, including plants, pillows and a mattress. She made an emotional impression. “I’m getting ready to say goodbye. I’m finally moving into my new home,” she wrote in an Instagram post at the end of April with a photo of a garden.

According to the newspaper, Kelly is moving to the Peak District, a highland area in central and northern England. As she herself explained on social media, “just a little further than Sheffield, so not too far from family”.

The king is said to have given her a house there, fulfilling a promise made by his late mother. It is believed that Kelly may continue to live there until the end of her life, but that the property will then return to the crown.
