After leaving the Guardians Of The Galaxy: Drax actor Dave Bautista will make John Wick in his next movie

In “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, Dave Bautista is seen for the last time in his signature role as Drax. The former wrestling star had already announced in advance that she wanted to say goodbye to the franchise, also to play more serious roles. His next film is now set: Dave Bautista to star in action comedy ‘The Killers game” to take over.

Based on a novel by Jay Bonansinga, The Killer’s Game follows longtime assassin Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) who is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. A shock to the tough dog. To ensure his wife’s financial security, he orders the murder of himself.

But mistakes happen – also in the field of modern medicine and so it turns out that the professional killer has been misdiagnosed. But this faux pas has consequences, as an army of ex-colleagues are after his life and the reward and now try to kill Flood, who must defend himself with everything he’s got…

Dave Bautista becomes John Wick

A seasoned assassin who must defend himself against his colleagues who are now trying to get him? This plot should be all too familiar to action fans in particular, after all, it sounds very much like the premise of the “John Wick” series, the fourth part of which is still in theaters.

But anyone who thinks that a screenwriter quickly put together a script in the aftermath of the ‘John Wick’ success wave is completely wrong: Hollywood has been trying to realize the project for almost two decades. First released by Paramount in 2004 – and between directors like Alex Proyas (“I, Robot”), Renny Harlin (“Die Hard 2”), John Woo (“In the Body of the Enemy”) and even Wolfgang Petersen ( “Troy”) have been on board the planned action comedy.

The project has now landed at Lionsgate and former stuntman JJ Perry, who recently made his feature film debut with Netflix vampire actor Day Shift, has been hired as the new director. Perry will direct The Killer’s Game from a screenplay by Rand Ravich and Simon Kinberg. Filming is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2023. It is not yet known when the film will hit theaters.
