Surprise! Jackie Chan continues one of his greatest hits after almost 20 years

That comes as a surprise – and somehow it doesn’t. The film market that accompanies the upcoming Cannes Film Festival traditionally brings a lot of news. For example, the cast of many upcoming films has been revealed, while other productions are presented for international distribution. And while Jackie Chan may not be the first name that comes to mind in connection with the renowned film festival, fans of the Hong Kong superstar can also look forward to news: Jackie Chan is working on a sequel to “The myth“.

The 2005 fantasy adventure is not exactly one of Chan’s best-known films in the country, but it is one of Chan’s biggest hits with international box office earnings of more than $120 million. And it seems that they want to take that success a step further: “The Myth 2”, titled “A legend‘ must be realized for a budget of 50 million dollars, which is generous by Hong Kong standards. Part 1 cost 15 million dollars at the time.

“A Legend”: Here’s What We Know About “The Myth 2”

As in the predecessor, Chan will play the lead role and will also have some old acquaintances by his side. Yixing Zhang and Coulee Nazha, with whom Chan already shot “Kung Fu Yoga” and “Police Story 2013” respectively, will also appear in front of the camera for the fantasy adventure. Meanwhile, the director’s chair will be taken by Stanley Tong, who has performed Jackie Chan many times – including in “Jackie Chan’s First Strike”, “Police Story 3” and “Rumble In The Bronx”, as well as in the first “Mythos”. movie.

In April, it was revealed that Chan is going on another adventure in a movie after The Myth as a time-travelling archaeologist. At the time, however, it was not yet known that this was actually a sequel to the film. Instead part 1 was only used as a comparison film – before the bomb fell.

Chan once again assumes the role of the adventurous Professor Jack and once again explores between the worlds. In the sequel, while on a glacier trek, his students discover a mysterious artifact that confusingly resembles a jade relic from Jack’s dream. So the professor, together with his protégés, investigates the truth behind the mysterious object.

It is not yet known when “A Legend” aka “The Myth 2” will appear. But first of all, we can expect “Ride On” on August 24, 2023 for the first time in Germany* appears, as well as the legendary kung fu classic “Drunken Master II”, which celebrates its German uncut premiere in HD on the same day:
