How to overcome the shortage of skilled labor? Join the big survey!

The consequences of the shortage of skilled labor in Switzerland are becoming increasingly apparent: there are more and more reports of butcher shops closing, restaurants with reduced operations or healthcare professionals quitting their jobs. If timely measures are not taken, the long-term consequences will be serious: according to SECO, Switzerland will be short of 270,000 workers in seven years.

But how should this shortage of skilled labor be overcome? Can hiring foreign skilled workers solve the problem? Should local talent be better promoted? Or can older employees fill the gaps that have arisen thanks to flexible working models?

To answer these questions and generate new solutions, the Larix Foundation launched the Opportunity Barometer together with Tina Freyburg (Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of St Gallen) and Watson as media partner.

The Opportunity Barometer is a representative survey of democracy and opportunity in Switzerland. The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 30 minutes. No personal data is collected from which conclusions can be drawn about the identity of the participants. The results of the opportunity barometer will be published in the autumn of 2023. (red)
