Ben Affleck seeks ‘human aspect’ to promote talent

At a time marked by the Hollywood writers’ strike, actor Ben Affleck spoke in an interview with EFE about the problems of the audiovisual industry and the creation of his production company Artists Equity, which strives to fairly promote the talent of artists.

“What is important is not capital and earningsbut the human aspect,” says the interpreter, who recently premiered the film “Air,” the first film of the company he runs with his friend, also actor Matt Damon.

Affleck admits he empathizes with the writers’ struggle Hollywoodwho began an indefinite strike on May 1 to demand better working conditions given the changes the entertainment industry has faced in recent years.

“It’s no secret that it is streaming The economics of this business have changed. One of the reasons I started this company was to try to encourage the talent of artists and give them the right compensation,” he explains.

“Everything would be more dramatic for us if we were working on TV series, but without screenwriters we cannot develop new projects or carry out revisions, which is dangerous for the industry,” he says.

Damon and Affleck experienced their first cinematic success of their races in 1997. when they were both still in their twenties and wrote and starred in “Good Will Hunting.”

“Air” was well received by public and criticism specialized, and the author of “Argo” can only attribute this success to the talented cast, which includes Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker, among others.

But he does not stop recognizing the talent of his partner. “Matt is a brilliant actor and writer he always makes everything better, I just stick to his greatness,” he says.

Affleck will also be working with his wife, an actress and singer Jennifer Lopez, but this time as a producer of a tape dedicated to Anthony Robles, an American wrestler who was born with only one leg.

“It’s always better to work with people who make you feel comfortable Whether it’s your best friend or your wife, these are people you trust and who create an environment of empathy at work, which is always important,” he believes.
