The area around Mont Chemin in the Lower Valais offers a diverse geology: scheelite, parisite, synchisite, fluorite, quartz, anatase and even gold can be found here. The tour is booked primarily by families, but also by geology and mineralogist experts. The meeting point for this mineral excursion is the Hotel Restaurant Porte d’Octodure in Martigny-Combe VS, where the group will depart for Mont Chemin on the agreed date. The expert leading the tour reveals which rock formations you can find quartz and much more. Minerals are sought with chisels, mallets and magnifying glasses. The geology experience is suitable for families and children ages eight and up.

Alone or with a private group, you can search for crystals on individual emitter tours at Surselva GR and nearby Urnerland. Depending on the trip, you go on a half-day or full-day tour with an experienced radiation guide. While shorter tours are easy to reach and easily access the canyons there, day tours require a good level of fitness and require two to three hours of hiking to remote locations over rough terrain. It doesn’t matter which excursion you choose for yourself or your group: with a little skill, crystals can be found at the destination with professional guidance. Josche meets with the group at half past nine in the morning at the agreed meeting point in Weergenstein GR and briefs the group on the job of a radiation worker in Switzerland. Then, walk thirty to sixty minutes to a mining site at Piz Beverin, where rock crystals are sought and blasted together. In the afternoon you go to the mineral exhibition and professional blasting workshop together. There, participants learn a lot about cleaning mountain crystals and further processing of minerals.
