Panama was present at the book fair in Monaco

For the first time, Panama participated in the Monaco Book Fair, the main literary event of the neighboring Mediterranean Principality of France.

At this French-speaking event, the country was represented by writer, manager and translator Edilberto González Trejos and writer, editor and presenter Mónica Miguel Franco.

The Istmeños led the literary production publishing houses which they represent, namely FIAT LUX Editores and NONIA Ediciones, which have published Panamanian authors such as Osvaldo Reyes, Arturo Wong Sagel, Gorka Lasa and Enithzabel Castrellón, among others, in the genres of novels, short stories, poetry and theater.

In the same way, in the role of curator and anthologist, they presented the anthology “Tales of Panama”published under the auspices of the University of Zaragoza, Spain.

The following authors appear in the anthology: A Morales Cruz, Andrés Villa, Annabel Miguelena, Ariel Barría Al Varado (deceased), Arturo Wong Sagel, Berly Denisse Núñez, Carlos Wynter, Cheri Lewis, Consuelo Tomás, Danae Brugiati, David Róbinson, Eduardo Soto Pimentel, Ela Urriola, Enrique Jaramillo Levi, Ernesto “Neco” Endara, Francisco Berguido, Giovanna Benedetti, Gonzalo Menéndez González, Isabel Burgos, Luigi Lescure, Juan David Morgan, Lissete Lanuza, Luigi Lescure, Melanie Taylor, Ornel Urriola (deceased) , Osvaldo Reyes, Pedro Crenes Castro, Pedro Rivera O., Roberto Pérez-Franco and Samuel Robles.

The authors were received at an honorary ceremony (April 14), s the presence of the ambassador of Panama and France, as well as the sponsors and hosts of the Monaco Association for Latin America (AMLA), which led the author’s invitations to the Organizing Committee of the Monaco Book Fair.

In addition to the above, bilingual conferences (French-Spanish) were held on Saturday, April 15, the first on the “noir” genre in Panama by Mónica Miguel Franco and the second on the history of Panamanian narrative in Panama by Edilbert González Trejos, presented by H.E. Issamary Sánchez Ortega, Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to France and concurrently Ambassador to the Principality of Monaco.

The door remains open for the spread of Panamanian literature inthe field of Francophonieas well as on the European continent, they reported.
