Organizers of the Portobelo Devils and Congos Festival have detailed what the event is bringing this year.

Committee for Festival of Skirts in Congo, Masks and Devil’s Dances will hold the thirteenth edition of the festival on Saturday, May 6.

This festival is considered the biggest event that Panama’s Afro-colonial culture has.

The activity was represents an undeniable cultural attraction and tourist for locals and foreigners, who throng the streets of the historic city to enjoy the indigenous manifestations of this area of ​​the province of Colón,

The event has not been held in person since 2019 due to the pandemic.

“Hunting the Devil Tun Tun” is the theme of this year 2023, and it will be a colorful show that will take place on the big stage in front of the town square.

The festival will also have the usual accompanying content, such as a trade fair, agricultural products, drinks and typical food of this region.

Besides, they will appreciate photographic exhibitions and/or plastic arts associated with these Afro-colonial manifestations, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
