Shortly after the announcement that the “Harry Potter” books would be recreated as a series, word came that “Twilight” would also be relaunched. The young adult books about the vampire Edward and his love story with Bella have been very successfully implemented for the cinema, and now the remake comes as a series. The film series is not that old yet, “Twilight – Biss zum Dawn” came out in 2008. Fans seem divided about the early reboot…
Most of all, many fans find it difficult to imagine new actors for the popular characters. For those who grew up on the teen romantic fantasy series, all you can think of is Robert Pattinson as Edward, Kristen Stewart as Bella, and Taylor Lautner as Jacob. On Twitter, so many fans vented their dismay at the inevitable impending replacements — and once again celebrated the original stars with photo and video posts:
In a post, a fan complains that the first part isn’t even old enough “to have a driver’s license” – so why touch this legacy now? Another post with the hashtag #TwilightJustOne said that the “Twilight” movies should be left alone. And no TV series reboot can match the original’s soundtrack, another fan tweeted.
But there are also voices on Twitter that are cautiously optimistic. One user writes that she will watch the “Twilight” series if it is more about the vampire background and the backstories of individual characters. This has been neglected in previous film adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s novels. And in another post, @susanareadss writes that she will watch the show even though she hates it, but it’s “Twilight” and that’s just part of her – she can’t watch it. And who knows: maybe you and other fans will like the series in the end…
There is still very little specific information about the “Twilight” restarts. The project is in a very early stage of development at Lionsgate Television, a streaming service or TV station is not on board yet. “Twilight” creator Stephenie Meyer is said to be involved in the series, but no personal details are known.
