Bad Bunny: “Don’t believe what you can’t see coming out of my mouth”

Bad Bunny used his Coachella 2023 performance this Friday night to respond to the criticism he’s received over the past two weeks, particularly after ambiguously referring to racism in the reggaeton industry in an interview with Time magazine.

“IN social networks, Everything is said in the press, but it will never be known reality what the heart feels. (…) That’s why I tell you not to believe what you don’t see coming out of my mouth. (…) Whoever wants to really meet me, I invite him to my house”, said “El Conejo Malo” from the main stage of Coachella.

The speech he continued with the applause of the public and which, intermittently, he supplemented with the assurance that “people” think they know the “life of celebrities”, but they “don’t know” what they feel and how they feel live.

“You’ll never know me through Instagram, you’ll never know me through video viral on TikTok, You will never get to know me through an interview, the message has changed,” said the determined Puerto Rican who was at the center of all criticism for days after his statements to Time.

To which the Latin star replied yes, since it’s his “ignorance”, he couldn’t talk much about it because he didn’t “experience it personally”.

The singer then set an example for his compatriot Tego Calderonan African-American pioneer in reggaeton whom he defined as one of his “idols” and who, although respected by everyone in the genre, never reached the level of popularity of “El Conejo Malo”.

With his performance, the Puerto Rican paid tribute to those who opened the door to Caribbean rhythm for him in the United States with a dedication to his roots in which he mentioned Héctor Lavoe, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz and Daddy Yankee and Calderón himself, among others.
