Sometimes there are just movies that come out at the right time. Til Schweiger has been unable to achieve exactly that in recent years. “The Discovery of the World We Know” and “Dear Kurt” flopped hard at the box office. But that all belongs to the past, because with “Manta Manta – Part TwoSchweiger finally succeeded in mobilizing the masses again. Of course, he was supported by a lot of nostalgic sentiment. But that is exactly what has become his key to success.
Whether “Manta Manta – Second Part” will eventually reach the dimensions of “KeinOhrHasen” (6.3 million viewers) or even “Honig im Kopf” (7.1 million viewers) remains to be seen.
This is Til Schweiger’s new film
If “Manta Manta – Second Part” – depending on its success – disappears from theaters in a few months, you won’t have to wait long to get Til Schweiger supplies. Already in December 2023 awaits you with “The best has yet to come“ the new work of the German superstar. This is a tragic comedy in which Schweiger not only took on the role of director, but will also play the main role.
In the film, which is a remake of Alexadre de La Patelliére and Matthieu Delaporte’s French The Best is Yet to Come, Til Schweiger plays Felix, while Michael Maertens plays his best friend Arthur. Due to a misunderstanding, the two buddies think that the other has cancer. The remaining time of the supposedly terminally ill friend must now be made as pleasant as possible, which is why Arthur and César make grand plans for each other.
Til Schweiger delivers even more
But that’s not all, because while “Manta Manta 2” is currently in theaters and “The best is yet to come” starts in December, Til Schweiger is already busy with his next film. It is an adaptation of John Strelecky’s bestseller The Cafe on the Edge of the World. Once again, Til Schweiger will direct and take on one of the leading roles. Also in front of the camera is his Manta Manta 2 co-star Tim Olivier Schultz And Paul Kalenberg (“close shot”).
The novel is all about the advertising manager John, who is always under pressure. A small café in the middle of nowhere becomes a turning point in the workaholic’s life. He really just wanted to pause for a moment, but then he discovered three questions on the menu next to the menu of the day: Why are you here? Are you afraid of death? Are you living a full life? These questions about the meaning of life lead John on a journey far from the boardroom to the coast of Hawaii…
