Fan-favorite hints at a possible “Star Wars” return – does a cult figure now have its own series?

Solo: A Star Wars Story wasn’t a big hit at the box office in 2018, but Ron Howard’s movie still has quite a few fans. With the hashtag #MakeSolo2Happen, the followers of Solo and Co. on the social networks even loudly and enthusiastically a sequel – which they have not received so far. Of course, there was always talk of possible sequels, after all, it’s about the massive “Star Wars” franchise. But words have not yet been followed by deeds.

Actor Donald Glover (“Swarm of Bees”), who plays Han Solo’s friend and smuggler Lando Calrissian in “Solo” (and became a fan favorite!), brings a breath of fresh air to the sequel debate, and what he says sounds exciting!

In an interview with GK Glover revealed that he is currently in talks with Lucasfilm about Lando Calrissian’s possible return: “We’re talking about it. That’s all I can say without Kathleen Kennedy chasing me,” he said, adding that he would like to play Lando again if the concept is right. Unfortunately, he did not release further details.

So it could continue with Lando Calrissian

Of course, he didn’t reveal whether Glover would play Lando again for a series or for another “Star Wars” movie. A “Lando” series has been under consideration since 2020 and at the time it was even said that the project was in development. Since then, nothing more has been heard about a possible prequel or sequel. Another “solo” movie was also not reported. However, after the successes of The Mandalorian, Andor, and Bad Batch, it’s quite likely that Glover will be in talks with Lucasfilm about another series.

In the 2018 FILMSTARTS interview, he confirmed that Glover could envision playing Lando again and that he had at least already signed on for a sequel to “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” However, he also explained that signing on for a sequel is a normal process and doesn’t automatically mean it will happen. The fact is, Glover is still thinking about Lando, and that’s a pretty good sign for fans of the versatile Star Wars character.

On April 7, 2023, the “Star Wars Celebration” kicks off in London and FILMSTARTS will report from there. Who knows, there may also be news about a “Lando” series. You can read the previously mentioned interview with Donald Glover from 2018 here:
