“Manta Manta 2” has a mixed audience. Some are still raving about Bertie, the cars, the nostalgia. Many others criticize the film and its creator Til Schweiger. They complain that the film lacks Manta and Ruhrpott flair while at the same time being full of typical Schweiger moments.
For example, a YouTube comment under a trailer for the film states that “Manta Manta 2” is a “pure slapstick comedy with mostly simple pie fights and fecal humor”.
Meanwhile, Til Schweiger tries to promote his film. For this, he finally shared Movie poster that raises questions and provokes criticism.
The poster features some quotes from German newspapers and magazines under the heading “The press is furious – the public is enthusiastic”. Accordingly, “Bild” described the film as “mantastic” and “Autozeitung.de” praised that “the quirky scenes with Klausi” would give heart to the film.
Also one of the reviews quoted is that of the “Mirror”, according to which “Manta Manta 2” is still “the absolute cult”. As Jonas Leppin, the newspaper’s chief of service, has now made clear, this was so utterly misrepresented. In a tweet, he pointed out that the quote that appeared on the poster was one from Schweiger himself. In the “Mirror” critique, this was only adopted.
Accordingly, the author did not write that the film was “the absolute cult”, but that Bertie had described the manta in the film as an “absolute cult”.
Below that, Leppin linked the criticism for further reading, stating that that the new edition was “brightly colored, plump and downright outdated”. There is no mention of “cult” and it is generally clear that the author was not entirely enthusiastic. Many scenes would look “like commercials for beer or hardware stores”, the story is also “not too fast”. You can laugh a few more times.
The press is reportedly going wild over the new Manta Manta movie. According to the movie poster, DER SPIEGEL writes: “The absolute sect”.
In fact, in our review we quote only one sentence that Til Schweiger himself wrote in the screenplay and now uses as a stamp of quality. pic.twitter.com/2qn7mxamGF

Many users, including Micky Beisenherz, laughed, but some also criticized the campaign. However, it remains unclear whether this is a misunderstanding or an intentional deception.
What many people noticed even more about the poster, however, was ChatGPT’s English review, which reads:
The fact that artificial intelligence was now used by Til Schweiger to evaluate his film called some “disturbing”. One person even saw the curious criticism as an opportunity to get ChatGPT to write a highly critical analysis of the movie. This, in turn, has it all and reads almost devastatingly. So it is said here that the film is not only “a bitter disappointment” but also “a clearly wrong decision”.

The internet laughs at it. Many were so amused by Schweiger’s attempts to sell “Manta Manta 2” despite the poor ratings. The fact that fake quotes from “Spiegel” and ChatGPT had to be used did not seem to surprise the majority.
