Since the beginning of March, “Scream 6” has been running with great success in German cinemas, not only in Germany but also worldwide. With a budget of $35 million, the horror film starring “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera has already grossed $140 million. So that logically means: “Scream 7” is theoretically already a foregone conclusion, even if official confirmation is probably still a while away.
Melissa Barrera, who made her franchise debut as Sam Carpenter in Scream 5, then became the centerpiece of the franchise in Scream 6, already has one wish when it comes to Scream 7: to cast Christina Carpenter, the mother of Sam and Tara (Ortega). And here Barerra has chosen a star who brings horror experiences.
Salma Hayek in “Scream 7”?!
In conversation with the actors said: “I can’t wait to work with Salma Hayek. It would be a dream if she played my mother. It would be fantastic.”
Of course, it remains to be seen whether this will ultimately be the case. It would certainly be an interesting choice, as Salma Hayek has already proven that she can revive another franchise this year in “Magic Mike – The Last Dance”, which featured her alongside Channing Tatum. Hayek also starred in one of the most iconic horror films of all time, From Dusk Till Dawn. She has already immortalized herself here with her iconic snake dance.
What does he have to do with Sam and Tara’s mother?
Anyway, the chapter about Sam and Tara’s mom, whose name is Christina Carpenter, is still pretty vague. While she was still on a business trip in London in “Scream 5” (funnily enough, “Magic Mike 3” is also set in London – a crossover is a good idea!), Part 7 says that Sam and Tara are currently not in contact have with her mother.
After the surprising resolution in “Scream 5” about who Sam’s dad was, there should still be some potential here to finally bring Sam’s mom into play in “Scream 7.” There may be a few more secrets to be revealed. And who knows, maybe Christina’s possible entry into the franchise will widen the circle of suspects. We’ve known since “Scream 2” that you can’t necessarily trust moms.
