Theatre: The premiere of ‘Luna Park’ will be in April

Everything is ready for the premiere of the play “Luna Park”, winner of an honorary mention at the Ricardo Miró literary contest.

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the CIMAS Foundation is producing for the first time a play written and directed by one of its founders, Édgar Soberón Torchia, author of works such as
“Cashew Seed” and “La Chula Linda”.

The author tells us several stories that give a sometimes comical and dramatic panorama of Panama City, through 7 madmen who meet every day at the Plaza de la Independencia
"fix the world". They are all half-mad, but like good madmen they tell the truth.

These 7 lunatics are acting Eddie Agrazal, Carlota Allen Herrera, Meredith Carley, Diego Duque, Angel Gutierrez, Meche Ochoa and Paulette Thomas.

The crazy 7 dance, sing, make us laugh by presenting problems and leave us with hope that everything can change for the better, if we think about it.

What was the origin of the work? The author confirms that everything is a product of what he observes, everything he hears and sees, from the terrible scourge that society suffers from: the loss
spirituality at the family, political and professional, social and societal levels.

“This situation exposes us to many problems, such as the unfair distribution of national wealth, public and private corruption, scarce social and medical assistance, poor education, sector privileges that send the rest of the citizenry to seek ‘water al pozo'”, and more personal issues, such as addictions, loneliness and buying love,” says Soberon Torchia.

TOPS

and why it produces TOPS play, when was your career more related to cinema? “CIMAS is an educational association,” he says.

“She was a pioneer in organizing film workshops, trained professionals, promoted the Film Law, created a film archive, founded the Human Rights Film Festival and produced films such as “La estación seca” and “Panamá Radio”. In this context, the theater corresponds, which is one of the arts that feeds cinematography”.

“Moon Park” will be available from April 12 to 30 at Guild Theater in Ancona, from Wednesday to Saturday at 20:00 and on Sundays at 17:00.
