we’re honest In making this weekly preview we sometimes have to dig a little deeper to find enough interesting titles. That is definitely not the case this week. Much more we have wondered what we leave out so that the article does not become too full and the offer does not become too large.
But enough of the preamble. As always, we have selected a number of promising titles for you that might interest you and/or that we can already recommend. Also this time we present you the titles here sorted by weekdays, so let’s get started to the Netflix highlights from March 27 to April 2, 2023.
Monday: The calm before the storm
Promised. This week is very busy, but no promising new title has been announced for Monday. This can always change in the short term, but for now it looks like you can use the day to finish your watchlist.
Tuesday: Liam Neeson as honest thief
“Honest thief“ is one of several fairly straight-forward campaigners Liam Neeson has taken down in recent years. Here he plays a thief who falls in love and therefore wants to be honest. So he offers the FBI a deal: he unpacks, returns his loot and only goes to jail for a short time. But two FBI agents trick him to get his money and even charge him with murder.
“Honest Thief” has a pretty strong cast with names like Robert Patrick, Jai Courtney, Anthony Ramos, Jeffrey Donovan and Kate Walsh in supporting roles, but overall it’s too much of a ready-made Neeson ripper. But fans will have fun.
Wednesday: Big series day
Netflix is releasing a slew of brand new series today that will run on the streaming service for the first time and will only be available there.
In the comedy series “Wellmania“ a party girl has to rethink her own lifestyle after health problems – not so easy when partying is so much fun. So party to the death? Maybe the main character can then go straight to the series “Emergency NYC“ come. The documentary shows how medical professionals in New York fight for lives every day, but also takes us into their personal lives.
Two other series tell us stories set on the African continent, which is gaining more and more attention on Netflix. In “unseen“ a woman is looking for her husband. With little help from the police, she has to take up arms herself to take on a criminal organization. Behind the series is Travis Taute, who showed with the movie “Indemnity” that he can stage action. “African Folktales Reimagined” meanwhile, in six episodes we have to bring a wide variety of famous African folk tales closer to us as small fantasy stories in a modern setting.
Thursday: More from Riverdale and Rob Lowe
Thursday, March 30, 2023 “River valley“fans have long marked red in the calendar. Because then the seventh and final season will start on Netflix – there will be a new episode every week.
Meanwhile, the father-son comedy series is brand new “unstable“: Ex-teen idol and Brat Pack star Rob Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe play father and son in the series about a tech genius who, grieving the death of his wife, threatens to ruin his business, which is why he is actually shy -Reluctant Junior has to intervene.
Friday: Adam Sandler and action for “John Wick” fans.
Netflix has two very contrasting original films on offer today. “Murder mystery 2“ is the star-studded sequel to the Netflix hit “Murder Mystery”, in which Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston again have to solve a murder together – this time they end up in Paris, among other places.
We’ve already seen the stylish action hit “Kill Bookson,” which is kind of based on the premise of what would happen if John Wick were a single mom. In a world run by killer organizations, Gil Boksoon (Jeon Do-yeon) is the best when it comes to killing. But she considers hanging up her guns to have more time for her daughter, who is unaware of her mother’s work. But then she breaks the cardinal rule of her industry… and ends up on the hit list herself.
Despite a somewhat snappy first half and excess length, “Kill Bookson” is, in our opinion, a well-made action movie with a surprising emotional core.
Saturday: Very, very different cinema for April 1
No April Fools: “Paw Patrol the movie“ became one of the six most successful films of the year in Germany in 2021 with more than 1.5 million cinema tickets sold. You can stream it on Netflix from Friday, April 1, 2023.
As you know, the first of the month is always the day when Netflix releases the majority of purchased third-party titles – and this time too. In addition to “Paw Patrol”, there is also complex and extraordinary fantasy cinema “The Green Knight“ and Kristen Stewart as an FBI-monitored screen icon “Jean Seberg – Against all enemies“.
A tip from us is “oh shit!“which did not hit theaters until autumn 2022 and as a thriller room play in the narrow space of a Dixiklos proves that good German genre cinema exists.
Sunday: Fight for survival on the high seas
The Netflix week concludes the miniseries “been a sailor“, which will be available from Sunday. Friends Alfred and Wally are at sea on a merchant ship when World War II breaks out. Suddenly they find themselves in the front line as civilians and without any weapons. German submarines could attack at any time. A battle for survival begins.
If the story sounds familiar to you, it may not be a coincidence: “War Sailor” is also currently playing in German cinemas. The Netflix miniseries is an extended version of the movie, already running for two and a half hours.
And if you want to fill your watchlist for the entire month after this title, you can do so now. We’ve put together the full list of all movie and series releases that have already been announced for the month of April:
