Rey Ruiz explores the big band format

Miami-based Cuban salsa artist Rey Ruiz explores the big band format on “Insuperable,” the 17th studio album of his career.

On this album, he sings eight songs from popular music that artists love Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Charles Aznavour, Agustín Lara and Nat King Cole became hits.

“Heart, heart”, “Love is free”, “WHO” and “Osmijeh” are some of the songs on the album, with previously unreleased arrangements.

The minutes work is available at music platform and it was co-produced by Rey Ruiz himself, twice nominated for the film Latin Grammy.

According to the statement of his representative, “Insuperable” is the realization of a lifelong dream for King Ruizwho always imagined that one day he would record a “Big Band” album and is a fan of artists such as Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé.

Drawing on these influences, Ruiz directs “Insuperable” the magic of the “Big Band” era and fuses jazz and other world music genres with his unique sound and style.

Producer, arranger and trumpeter Jose Aguirre (Niche Group) and Juan José Aguirre.

The album was mixed and mastered by engineer Humberto Gatica (Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson), according to the press release.

Born in Cuba, King Ruiz, whose real name is Reinerio Ruiz Santiago and known as “El bombón de salsa”, began his musical career in 1987, at the age of 21, and was nominated twice for the Latin Grammy in the salsa and tropical music categories.

He has been living in Miami since the 90s.
