This is Quentin Tarantino’s last movie – and there’s a popular superstar rumor for the lead role

Quentin Tarantino’s last film would have the (working) title “The Movie Critic”, is set in Hollywood in the late 1970s and the main character may have been modeled on film critic legend Pauline Kael. In the video, our YouTube editor Sebastian explains in great detail who Kael is and what makes her so special. More information about the project can also be found in the following article:

But of course, Hollywood has been preoccupied with the big question of who could star in this movie since the announcement. After a few days ago the website came, which does not always seem reliable reported that “Barbie” star Margot Robbie is Tarantino’s favorite and that they could be together again after “Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood”, now there’s a new rumor that makes more sense.

Cate Blanchett in a critique of contemporary Hollywood?

The insider who is highly networked in the industry report in his podcast , that he got the rumor that Tarantino wanted Kate Blanchett for the lead role. It is important in this context that Sneider attaches importance to the statement that it is still a rumor. Sneider also states that, according to his information, the film is critical of contemporary Hollywood, despite being set in the 1970s.

Interestingly, Tarantino used Cate Blanchett’s name in a little rant many years ago. In 2015, he criticized American indie cinema. Too many of the movies are just “Oscar bait that no one will talk about in 20 to 30 years.” He added titles like Ben Affleck’s The Town, The Kids Are All Right and Philomena, then said, “Half of these Cate Blanchett movies are just artsy stuff. I’m not saying they’re bad movies, but I don’t think they are. most of them will live long.”

Nevertheless, Cate Blanchett would make sense for the film as a lead actress – in particular, she would be a very good fit for a Pauline Kael-esque character. At the time the film was set, Kael was in his late fifties and had a lot of experience. Blanchett is 53. With Margot Robbie, who is just 32, the character would certainly be very different. At that age, Kael was just writing her very first movie reviews, encouraged to do so by a newspaper editor friend after reviewing a movie. It wasn’t until she was in her mid-40s that she devoted herself fully to the profession.

But be surprised. More information could come soon. Tarantino reportedly wants to start filming as early as fall 2023 for a 2024 theatrical release.
