The Panama International Book Fair could have a minimum annual economic contribution of $150,000 to guarantee its sustainability after the Commission on Education, Culture and Sports approved bill 970 in its first reading.
The legislative initiative proposes guaranteeing the sustainability of the event, which annually affects thousands of children and which has been promoting literary culture and writers at the highest level for more than 18 years.
Bill 970, presented by Deputy Juan Diego Vazquezsuggests that the economic contribution that the fair receives, which has been around USD 150,000 in recent years, and USD 200,000 in recent years, should be supported necessary regulations.
“It’s one of the educational windows and cultural the most reputable in the country”, said the deputy proponent.
Priscilla Delgado, from Ministry of Culture and the first president book Fairhe reiterated the importance of the event that has a sustainable economic contribution and official due to the positive influence of the literary meeting.
