Horror legend Wes Craven has never had it particularly easy with his films at the FSK. In addition to “The Hill of Bloody Eyes” and “The Last House on the Left”, the uncut version of “Scream – Schrei!” to the index. Meanwhile, the unabridged meta-slasher cult has even been released for 16 years and older. Yes, that’s how viewing habits change.
Which makes the now-known age limit of cult killer Ghostface’s latest orgy all the more exciting: The FSK released “Scream VI” for the cinema from the age of 18! This makes the sixth part of the horror saga, which you can see in German cinemas from March 9, 2023, not only the longest yet (running time: 123 minutes), but also probably the most brutal film in the entire series:
While the original was already released in the course of a 16-year re-examination, “Scream 2” was the only chapter with an 18 release to date. It is quite conceivable that this classification will also be revised downwards in the near future. However, part 6 has now been evaluated taking into account current viewing habits – and should therefore probably be the hardest Ghostface battle record to date. In any case, we assume that exuberant bloodshed is the reason for the high age rating.
Does that ultimately make the film better or even worse? As I said, you can convince yourself of that from next Thursday. If anything, the trailer makes it more than clear that this time around Ghostface isn’t afraid to resort to unorthodox means to continue the carnage…
On the other hand, if you’re always annoyed by horror trailers revealing and revealing too much, you should probably get in the mood for the movie with the equally atmospheric (and promising) teaser. By the way, the first four ‘Scream’ movies are currently available as a subscription to Paramount+,”scream 5“Like the first three parts, it currently runs on Sky and WOW*.
“Scream 6”: It’s going to New York!
Besides the question of who is hiding behind the iconic Ghostface mask this time around, “Scream VI” will be exciting to see how much the new setting will affect the story. This time the murders do not take place in sleepy Woodsboro, but for a change in the urban jungle of New York.
The successful director duo Matt Betinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who successfully followed in the footsteps of Wes Craven, who died in 2015 with “Scream 5”, must now finally provide a season transfer: Because “Scream 6” is the first part without the by Neve Campbell played Sidney Prescott has to do it – of the original stars, only Courteney Cox is still part of the game as Gale Weathers. Of course, fans of the series can still look forward to seeing some familiar faces…
There again: “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega
Of course, Melissa Barrera is back as Sam and Jenna Ortega as Tara, who leaves Woodsboro to start a new life in New York, as well as Hayden Panettiere, who celebrates her comeback as Kirby Reed, twelve years after “Scream 4”. The biggest crowd pleaser in the cast is probably Jenna Ortega – unlike the predecessor.
The 20-year-old Californian has quickly become the ultimate shooting star in recent years. She won the hearts of horror fans not only with her “Scream” debut, but also with the tongue-in-cheek Foo Fighters horror “Studio 666” and with Ti West’s celebrated “X”, which instantly launched the horror specialist into an entire franchise.
And then, of course, there is “Wednesday”. Ortega wowed millions of viewers in the role of the Addams Family daughter and was instrumental in making the series one of the biggest Netflix hits ever. We therefore expect that many “Wednesday” fans will also buy a movie ticket for “Scream 6″…
