Just yesterday we could tell you that a horror movie about murderous gnomes is currently in development. But that’s not all, because less than 24 hours later, this news was again outbid in terms of absurdity. Because as has now been announced, a horror comedy about a sock monster awaits us in the near future!
Sean Whalen (“The People Under The Stairs”) will not only take the director’s chair, but will also star in front of the camera alongside “Succession” star Alan Ruck. The film, which will be titled Crust, is about a lonely launderette owner who takes care of his customers’ leftover socks. When he is brutally attacked and ends up crying in the pile of socks, he transforms into a creature bent on revenge!
Sean Whalen is also writing the screenplay for Crust, which he co-wrote with Jim Wald. Alan Ruck is rumored to play a former child star named Randy Robert, who is working on a reboot of the show that made him famous. The cast also includes Daniel Roebuck (“The Munsters”), Felissa Rose (“Terrifier 2”) and Ricky Dean Logan (“Back to the Future”).
Incidentally, “Crust” is not the first horror film in which a piece of clothing is largely responsible for causing a massacre. For example, in 2020 ‘Slaxx’ was a horror comedy in which jeans caused disaster. If anything, the sock monster in “Crust” could provide a lot of genre fun. When and how the film will be released in this country is not yet clear.
