It’s been a long time since any official statements were made about “Fantastic Four”. Instead, the casting rumor followed the casting rumor. Now the director responsible for the project, Matt Shakman, has released at least some information – more specifically about the start of the film’s shooting, a little more discreetly about the much-discussed casting of the four main roles and the various supporting characters. .
“Fantastic Four”: shooting from early 2024
Shakman, who just finished the Amazon Prime video series “The Consultant” with Christoph Waltz and is in the process of post-producing a “Godzilla” series for AppleTV+, told the magazine that his focus is completely on “Fantastic Four”. He will not insert another project in advance in order to extensively prepare for the shooting of the MCU adventure.
The recordings of “Fantastic Four” should then start “early next year”, so early 2024. This should also ensure that the cinema release that is now scheduled for February 12, 2025 will be achieved. Recently, the comic adaptation has already been pushed back once and there has always been fear among MCU fans that it will be postponed again as hardly any progress has been confirmed.
Don’t believe the casting rumours
The project is still in an early stage, so it can of course be postponed. Shakman also explains that no cast has been found for the main roles. He doesn’t want to discuss specific names, but calls on fans not to believe the many rumors on the internet. We’re still at the beginning here, so there’s nothing to announce just yet. Once it does, it’s done.
A wide variety of stars have recently been associated with starring roles in “Fantastic Four” on the Internet. Especially Adam Driver, but also Ryan Gosling, have become very popular lately – for both hero and villain roles. Also ‘The Bear’ star Jeremy Allen White, Carey Mulligan, who recently received a Golden Globe nomination for ‘She Said’, ‘Bridgerton’ star Regé-Jean Page and Diego Luna, known for ‘Andor’, among others, were also linked to film roles in the Rumor mill. Of course, it’s entirely possible that at least some of these people are actually in talks with Marvel and that Shakman is just countering this, but it’s also possible that none of these rumors are true.
Just wait for the “Fantastic Four”
If the schedule is kept and shooting starts in early 2024, it should be known at the latest which stars will take on at least the four main roles in “Fantastic Four”. However, fans should hope that the announcement will be made sooner – possibly during Comic-Con in San Diego in the summer. After all, Marvel also used the fair last year for numerous major announcements.
Fans are especially hoping that the “Fantastic Four” will finally get a proper performance, after all previous film adaptations have failed the mainstream.
