“PS I love you” is a romantic comedy – something really fun for the heart and soul. Who cares about stars covered in blood, shot eyes and hospital stays? But how Gerald Butler at a performance in the “The Drew Barrymore Show“ revealed that his co-actress had a serious accident on the film’s set Hillary Swank transported to hospital.
A suspender bullet becomes a weapon
The ‘300’ action star references a scene where Gerard Butler dances around the room in boxer shorts and suspender belts: “I literally spent a day and a half filming this scene and I had to dance like an idiot in the garter belts… and I thought, ‘I can’t believe I’m doing this.’”
However, after a few successful shots, the crocodile clip on the braces got stuck in a TV – with dire consequences: “The clip, which was a crocodile clip, got stuck in the TV when I crawled over to her. It broke loose, flew over my head, hit her in the head and cut her head. I literally cut them open. You could even see the impressions of your teeth [des Krokodilclips] see. She had to be taken to hospital.“
Breakdown in boxer shorts
The set of PS I Love You was in quite an uproar after this incident and while Hillary Swank was rushed to hospital, Gerard Butler – still in his boxers – was understandably quite emotional:
“I just sat there in my Irish boxers, boots and a pair of socks and just started crying. […] I was like, ‘I drew Hilary Swank. I almost gouged out her eye […]!’”
Fortunately, the injury turned out to be less serious than expected and filming continued without major complications. We are also convinced of the RomCom and come to the following conclusion in our 3.5-star review:
“’PS I love you’ is a rare example of classic emotional entertainment cinema for adult audiences of both sexes.
