“This is one of the few systems we know of to have multiple minor planets in the habitable zones. This makes the TOI 700 system an exciting possibility for further tracking,” NASA expert Emily Gilbert told “Bild”.
The planet is 100 light years away from us. One light-year is equivalent to 9.46 trillion kilometers. It’s too far for us humans. However, researchers are still working to develop spacecraft that can travel these distances.
It is suspected that there are hundreds of billions of exoplanets in our galaxy.
At the same time, the James Webb Space Telescope was able to discover its first exoplanet. The US space agency Nasa said that the existence of exoplanet LHS 475 has been noted before and has now been confirmed for the first time with the help of a telescope. LHS 475 is roughly the same diameter as Earth and is about 41 light-years away. It is not yet clear whether the exoplanet has an atmosphere similar to that of our earth.
For a long time, astronomers only knew about planets orbiting our sun. The first exoplanets – celestial bodies that usually orbit a star outside our solar system – were only confirmed in the early 1990s.
